The Main Psychotherapy Training Programme

The fully accredited Psychotherapy or Counselling Training Programmes can lead to registration with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Many students who have trained at nwcp and smcp are now fully qualified and on BACP and UKCP registers.

This is a 3 or 4 year, part time programme with 15 days training delivery each year, meets all BACP requirements and can lead to BACP student / registered / fully accredited membership with BACP.

There are two options re training: either at nwcp (north wales) or smcp (south manchester).

The training groups run, on a part time basis, throughout the year: Sept - July and you may enter the programme at any point depending upon the availability of places.

Training days are a combination of weekend and weekdays - attending an introductory two day course is a prerequisite for applying for the main training programme - details below.

There is no obligation beyond the two day introductory course.

nwcp (north wales) offers qualifications at Certificate and Diploma levels. smcp (south Manchester) offers qualifications at Certificate / Diploma levels which can lead to BACP registration and the CTA level leading to fully qualified UKCP registration.

Please Contact nwcp if you would like further details or would like to meet with Carol Lucas personally to discuss the training programmes.

The four year programme is part time, and flexible.

In order to provide maximum flexibility you only sign up for a year at a time and you can attend for 1 year or up to 4 years, depending upon your reasons for training. Some people attend for personal and professional development and some attend to become fully qualified psychotherapists or counsellors.

If you attend for personal development you do not need to meet any of the accredited criteria - for example: completing the annual written assignment.

On average it takes between 5 and 7 years of part time training to become a fully qualified psychotherapist registered with UKCP and between 3 and 5 years of part time training to become a fully qualified Counsellor. Students can begin practising after around 2 years of training but this depends on previous experience and all training criteria having been met.

If you would like to look at the programme and full criteria in detail please Contact nwcp.

Transactional Analysis is a theory of personality and interpersonal behaviour, and a method of psychotherapy.

OR
